What we do

Delivering programmes
developing a model

Operating from its base in rural Suffolk, Morabe Rural Music invests in children’s music education by addressing and augmenting inadequate state school provision, engaging with parents and reaching out for support and involvement with local communities

Schools programme

Our ambition is to nurture musical literacy, so that all children will be able to read, write and play music when they leave primary school.

At Eyke C of E Primary, we provide a programme of learning and performance activities which are delivered by a team of qualified specialists.

  • All children access Kodaly-based music literacy classes

  • All KS1 pupils learn a string instrument in small groups.

  • All KS2 pupils participate in choir

  • All KS2 pupils receive whole class djembe drumming

  • A qualified Music Therapist provides support for SEN children and children with additional needs

  • All children access professional performances by visiting artists performing at school and via visits to professional venues outside school.

  • All children give performances in school, the community and in professional spaces, such as the annual Summer Recital at Snape Maltings.

Community programme

  • Pre-school Mini Music sessions for all 0-5 year olds and their carers/parents delivered by a qualified musician and early years music specialist

  • Community choir open to all friends and families from Eyke village and surroundings

  • Performances by the children in the community such as care home recitals

Greater Depth Learning & Legacy

  • Individual, one-to-one instrument lessons in violin, viola, cello, double bass, piano or singing are given by specialist tutors

  • Public performance and presentation skills classes for pupils preparing for performances, recitals and/or exams

  • Ensembles and Chamber Music Groups

  • As children move on to secondary school they may allow other studies or interests to supplant music. To support their musical development, we continue to provide lessons for pupils after leaving primary school.

  • In time we will create an alumni ensemble performing and supporting its members and inspiring pupils at every age

Enriching children’s lives one string at a time.
